ElastiPoxy Joint & Crack Filler is a special two-component epoxy designed for repairing control joints or cracks in concrete slabs where flexibility and elongation are required.
Control joints or “saw cuts” prevent unsightly cracking in concrete slabs due to their natural expansion and contraction – the cracking then occurs at the bottom of the control joints. However, the cracked joints let in water, which may cause freeze-thaw damage and heaving if the gravel bed is silted up. Fill the control joints with ElastiPoxy. This will also prevent the edges of the joints from getting “chewed up” due to heavy traffic.
If there are not adequate control joints in a concrete driveway, Nature will create its own – cracks in the concrete. The cracks will then accommodate some movement of the concrete, acting as control joints. If you repair these cracks with a rigid filler like our CrackWeld Floor Repair Kit, the natural expansion and contraction of concrete may cause new cracks in the driveway. Filling moving cracks with ElastiPoxy will allow for the natural movement of concrete without causing new cracks.
To prevent ElastiPoxy from running out, insert a foam backer rod or pour in some sand to partially fill the crack, leaving at least 1/2″ for the filler. It will also act as a bond breaker – the epoxy should bond to the sides of the crack but not to its bottom.
ElastiPoxy is pourable, self-tacking, and self-leveling – no troweling or finishing needed.
Concrete Surface Repairs
ElastiPoxy is also handy for filling spalls, pit marks, or holes in concrete and cracks caused by rusting embedded steel. When appropriate, mix ElastiPoxy with sand and trowel the epoxy-sand mix into spalls to provide a strong, rigid repair similar in appearance to concrete. ElastiPoxy Applications
Driveways, parking decks, patios, sidewalks, pool decks, garage floors, basement floors, floor-to-wall joints, warehouse, and factory floors. Ideal for large moving joints like driveway-to-garage floor, or sidewalk abutting a foundation wall.
Repairing Cracks in Concrete Driveways
Use ElastiPoxy Joint & Crack Filler for repairing and sealing control joints and cracks in concrete driveways and garage floors. Designed for durability to withstand heavy loads, ElastiPoxy offers a solution to ensure long-lasting results. Check out the visual guide below to view the application process of ElastiPoxy in action:
1. Chase cracks to a 1/2″ deep with an angle grinder or chisel.
2. Remove debris and dust by vacuuming the crack.
3. Agitate the cans by rolling or shaking them.
4. Ensure each compound is thoroughly mixed using the mixer on low speed.
5. Measure one Part B (Resin).
6. Measure one Part A (Hardener).
7. Ensure that the amounts of resin and hardener are equal.
8. Combine Parts A & B in a measuring cup (or pail). Mix.
9. Blend the resin and hardener thoroughly on low speed with the mixer.
10. Pour the blended self-leveling epoxy mixture into the routed crack or spall.
Appearance
ElastiPoxy cures gray. You can easily color the epoxy by adding color pigments during mixing. To match the color and texture of concrete, you can broadcast sand or colored sand over the epoxy before its surface hardens.
